The Team
The first ASL FRC team, Griffins 1884, was initially formed in 2004 after students from a smaller sumo bot club decided to set their sights on larger projects, under the leadership of Eric Fredrickson and help from a parent mentor Steve Alaniz. By 2016, the team had grown so large that we had to form a second team, Phoenix 1797.

"Anyone is welcome.
If you don’t know how to use a machine, someone is always willing to help you. It’s a great place to make mistakes and bond."

"Thanks to the ASL robotics program, I feel like I’ve had experiences that most people who are my age don’t have the chance to have, including organizing teams, designing parts, working within a larger team, thinking about how people work."
